1998-99 Upper Deck Encore Basketball puts a premium, foil-driven spin on one of the most memorable eras of 1990s basketball! Released as a semi-parallel to the 1998-99 Upper Deck Basketball set, Encore features a 150-card checklist utilizing Upper Deck's distinctive Rainbow Light F/X technology, giving the cards a bright, reflective finish that separates them from the standard Upper Deck release. Look for key rookie cards of Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, Jason Williams, Rashard Lewis, and Peja Stojakovic!
The 150-card Encore checklist includes an extensive selection of NBA veterans and stars before moving into several separately seeded portions of the set. Cards #91-113 are dedicated entirely to Michael Jordan, creating a 23-card run celebrating one of the greatest players in basketball history. These Michael Jordan cards fall approximately 1:4 packs. Cards #114-143 make up the 30-card Rookie Watch checklist and also fall approximately 1:4 packs. This portion of the set contains the primary Encore rookie cards from the 1998-99 NBA rookie class, including Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, Jason Williams, Rashard Lewis, and Peja Stojakovic. Look for Michael Jordan Base/Subset cards (1:4 packs), Rookie Watch cards (1:4 packs), Bonus Regular Rookie cards (1:8 packs), Intensity inserts (1:11 packs), Rookie Encore inserts (1:23 packs), Driving Forces inserts (1:23 packs), MJ23 inserts (1:23 packs), and PowerDeck cards (1:47 packs).
Rookie Encore: The 10-card Rookie Encore insert set provides another opportunity to chase members of the 1998-99 rookie class, including Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, and Jason Williams. Collectors can also hunt for the much tougher Rookie Encore F/X parallels, with each card serial numbered to just 1,000.
Driving Forces: Inserted approximately once every 23 packs, the 15-card Driving Forces set highlights some of the NBA's biggest stars. Each Driving Forces card also has a limited F/X parallel serial numbered to just 500.
MJ23: Michael Jordan is one of the major focuses of 1998-99 Upper Deck Encore, and the 20-card MJ23 insert set is devoted entirely to His Airness. Standard MJ23 cards fall approximately 1:23 packs. The chase becomes significantly tougher with MJ23 F/X parallels, with each of the 20 cards serial numbered to just 23.
F/X Parallels (numbered to 125): One of the biggest chases in 1998-99 Upper Deck Encore is the F/X parallel set. All 150 cards in the regular Encore checklist have an F/X parallel serial numbered to just 125. That means collectors can chase extremely limited F/X versions of stars and Hall of Famers such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, along with rookie cards of Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, and the rest of the 1998-99 rookie class.
PowerDeck: Falling approximately 1:47 packs, PowerDeck is one of Encore's toughest regularly inserted sets. These nine interactive cards were designed to be loaded into a computer disk drive to access game-action footage, sound, photos, and career highlights. The checklist features Charles Barkley, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Julius Erving, Kevin Garnett, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Paul Pierce, and Jason Williams.
Michael Jordan Autographs: The biggest hit available in 1998-99 Upper Deck Encore Basketball is the Michael Jordan UD Authentics Autograph. The on-card autograph has an announced print run of just 50 copies and was randomly inserted into Encore packs, making it an exceptionally rare chase.
